Reminder: Dandenong Tournament Next Sunday May 27

May 19th, 2012

A reminder that next Sunday we have a number of teams entered at the Dandenong and Districts Netball Association Tournament.

If you want to play but your regular team is not playing, and you haven’t been told yet which team you will be in, please speak to your coach at training tomorrow night.

NOTE: even if your team is not playing we will do our best to find you a spot in another team.

The fee for the day will be $15, to be paid to your team manager or coach at the start of the day.

IMPORTANT: Volunteers are needed to spend an hour each helping out in the canteen, and we would appreciate some assistance cleaning up at the end of the day also.  Please speak to your team manager or a committee member about this.

15/U-3 Match Report vs Mountain District

May 14th, 2012

Thanks to Shanae Chamberlain for this match report.

15 3’s versus Mountain District

On Thursday night the girls got off to a slow start allowing the other team to pull away. In the second half we put up a strong fight making Mountain District work hard for their win. To our teams credit we played a competitive game and never gave up. It was great to see the girls trying hard to implement our training drills into the game especially the preliminary moves. Well done to Tanya who played a fantastic game getting many intercepts and using her voice to create good talk. Good job girls!!

Congratulations Lauren Hargreaves

May 9th, 2012

More congratulations are in order - this time for Lauren Hargreaves of our 15/U-1 team.

Lauren is into the last round of 27 players for the SSV 15/U State schoolgirls team.

To be one of the top 27 players in the state in your age group is a great achievement. We are hoping Lauren can take it to the next stage and represent Victoria later in the year.

The last trial is on 20th May - best of luck Lauren!

More VSS Success

May 9th, 2012

More good news on the VSS state trials front. In addition to the girls mentioned here, the following players also made it past the third round of trials:

Jemima Price
Holli Dent
Kate Moffatt
Isabella Ebeyan
Taylor Howie
Hinemoa Collier

This brings the total to 9! (Hope we didn’t miss anyone - if we did please let us know).

And in even better news, the VSS South Metro trials were held this morning and four girls were successful and have gone through to the next stage (metro trials).

Kate Moffatt
Taylah Howie
Jemima Price
Hinemoa Collier

Congratulations to all players, parents and coaches!  Four players out of fourteen in the regional team is a fantastic effort, and is by far our best showing ever at SSV.

No training Sunday (Mothers Day) unless told otherwise by your coach

May 8th, 2012

Please note that Mums need a well-earned break and so there will be no training this coming Sunday May 13 unless you are told otherwise by your coach.

Also, the training centre is not available until after 6:00pm so any junior teams wishing to train will need to take this into account.

To all of the club’s devoted Mums - have a great day!
